Sarah Wilfong Joblin is a violinist, fiddle player, session string arranger, and violin educator based in Nashville, TN, and Eugene, OR. Sarah began her life in Nashville by signing a record deal as part of the all-female country group Mustang Sally. She toured extensively with the group for eight years, traveling across North America, Europe, and Asia. Sarah has many recording and arranging credits from her time in Nashville, the most notable being the string arrangement and performance on a recently discovered and posthumously released track, “The Way is Love,” by Roy Orbison on the 25th anniversary re-release of his iconic album Mystery Girl. She has recorded two solo albums of traditional and original fiddle music, and recently teamed up with Grammy nominated songwriter Robin Ruddy to write and record a Christmas album, Kettle of Fish: Celtic Christmas.
Sarah currently teaches violin at Bushnell University, and performs as a member of the Eugene Symphony Orchestra. She has taught at Middle Tennessee State University, Vanderbilt University, the University School of Nashville, and at workshops around the country. She has composed and premiered multiple works for solo violin and orchestra, and has appeared with artists such as Michale Bublé, Steven Tyler, Two Cellos, and with jazz greats Charlie Haden and Michael Brecker at Carnegie Hall. Sarah earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Oregon, and received her Bachelor's and Master’s degrees from Middle Tennessee State University. She began her studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston where she studied jazz, bluegrass, and composition. When she isn’t performing or teaching, Sarah spends her time chasing after her two young daughters and watching Star Trek reruns.
